• Are you a truck driver, delivery driver or taxi-cab driver and you were arrested for drunk driving in the Philadelphia area?

  • Are you a commercial driver who has received a ticket for a serious traffic offense or a major traffic violation in Pennsylvania

If you drive a motor vehicle for a living, you can’t afford to lose your commercial driver’s license (CDL). In Pennsylvania, even one conviction for driving under the influence or other DUI-related offense may result in suspension of your CDL. Being convicted of 2 serious traffic offenses can result in a 60 day CDL suspension.

When you need an aggressive lawyer to defend you against DUI, driving while suspended, or other traffic violations, call me at 610-239-8870 or contact my Norristown law office. I can help you explore options for keeping your CDL or getting your license back after disqualification or suspension.

I am Basil D. Beck III. I defend commercial drivers against moving violations that can result in CDL suspension in Pennsylvania. I know that commercial drivers depend upon their CDL to earn a living. I understand how important it is for you to keep your license.

Even One DUI or Major Traffic Offense Can Cause You to Lose Your Commercial Driver’s License.

Since the Motor Carrier Safety Improvement Act (MCSIA) was enacted, Pennsylvania and other states have to disqualify commercial drivers for committing certain high-risk traffic offenses — even if they were driving their own car at the time.

Conviction of certain major offenses will result in a one-year CDL suspension, even if it is your first violation, including:

  • Driving under influence of alcohol or controlled substance
  • Breathalyzer test refusal
  • Driving a commercial vehicle while a CDL is revoked, suspended, cancelled or disqualified
  • Causing a fatality through the negligent operation of a commercial vehicle

Two Serious Traffic Offenses Can Result In CDL Suspension

Two or more convictions for a serious traffic offense in a 3-year period can result in the disqualification of your privilege to drive a commercial motor vehicle. Serious traffic offenses include:

  • Improper passing
  • Following too closely
  • Failure to yield
  • Speeding — exceeding maximum speed limit 15 mph or more
  • Overtaking a school bus
  • Exceeding special speed limit for trucks on downgrades
  • Reckless driving
